Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are ligand-gated ion channels in the central and peripheral nervous system. SR 16584 is an antagonist of the α3β4 nAChR subtype (IC₅₀ = 10.2 μM).¹ It shows selective binding of the α3β4 subtype compared to the α4β₂ and α7 subtypes (K_i values of 0.508, >100, and >100 μM, respectively), indicating that it should be a useful tool for receptor subtype studies.¹
